Lou's Trip
This is just a quick update from Hoi An as I'm leaving today for Dalat. We have loved Hoi An - Im really sad to leave!
Apparently its the only town in Vietnam untouched by the war so its all the original Vietnam, which is quite hard to come by here as so much of it has been rebuilt. Its such a charming little place with little yellow buildings, almost like france or italy except everyone is wearing conical hats! The people are lovely, really friendly and it has lots of nice little cafes and resturants selling proper french pastries and coffee! It definately has a frenchy feel to it. We've just been cycling aroung the town in our bikes with little baskets around all suit shops. Hoi An's famous for its tayloring so most of its business revolves around that now. Everyone that comes here gets suits made to measure for peanuts, thats just what you do here so its been really cool everyday cycling to the different shops to get fittings and get measured. Its nice you get a real feel for a place I think when you have a purpose - everyday we've been really busy, things to do, appointments to meet!! We even made friends with one of our taylors!!
Its nice as well cause there are quite a lot of tourists but a small enough number that you keep seeeing the same folk everywhere, in the suit shops and lonely planet resturants!
We went for a motor bike tour yesterday to My Son which is another world heritage sight, so that was really nice. It was a great way to see thingsby bike, you really get to see so much more than by tour bus or car. It was far too hot though and we were a bit done in after it!
Next stop is Dalat where its cooler so really looking forward to that, cant cope with the heat here!
Till then, bye bye xxxx
