Tassie Trip 2015
Day 18
Port of Melbourne - Bright - Harrietville -Tallangatta - Mount Granya State Park
The strait was quite calm last night. We were rudely awoken at 5.45am advising us that we could disembark at 6.30am and so basically we needed to get a move on.
We rolled off the Spirit at about 6.45am and headed off through a waking up Melbourne town, took the second left instead of the first left and headed over the West Gate bridge and Geelong way instead of towards the Hume Hwy and Bright. A quick recovery and a drive back over the bridge saw us on our way .
We drove on to Bright and caught up with Meg And Dan and family and had a very late breakfast at a beautiful cafe in the Main Street before exploring more of the town itself. We then parted ways with us headed towards the border and a free camp and the Pauly's headed to Beechworth.
About 25ks out of Bright we stopped at Harriotville and the Mountain Fresh Salmon and Trout Farm. Here you can fish for free and just pay for the ones you catch. You can't throw them back either!! We let the kids feed the fish first and they decided that we could in fact do a fish dinner whilst remote camping and so off they went. They all caught a rainbow trout each in the end and just over a kilo of fish. They were cleaned and gutted for us and popped straight into the fridge.
We travelled on through Tallangatta where we picked up some essentials for our fish feast tonight and headed off to the Mount Granya State Park which is our camp for the night.
We scaled our trout and popped them on the hot plate with some herbal sea salt and some extra virgin olive oil and feasted on some beautiful fish. Everyone got a good feed and were very happy.
A quick storm rolled though just after dinner was finished (it was 34 degrees today).
Tomorrow we are off to Jugiong and then for home.
Tassie Trip has officially finished as of tonight. A Wrap to come shortly with the map and stats.
