Tassie Trip 2015
Day 14
Strachan
The sunshine came back with some gusto today! We awoke to beautiful blue skies and it continued all day.
Today we explored the beautiful hamlet of Strachan in the just as beautiful sunshine - and we got to drive on the beach too!
We headed out of Strachan to drive out to the Macquarie Heads Reserve at the tip of this peninsula. You can camp out here and it's a big fishing village plus you can drive on the beach and around the headland back to Ocean beach. Lots of fun.
After playing on the beach for a while, we headed back into Strachan and fuelled both cars and bellies with lunch before heading out to the Henty Dunes for the afternoon.
We picked up toboggans and sand boards from reception for an afternoon of sliding down sand dunes. I even got the tractor inner tube out for some sand fun. Everyone had a blast firstly climbing the soft dunes and then sliding down on backsides or surfing them on the boards. It was sun, sun and fun all afternoon.
From here we headed back to Ocean Beach for another drive on the beach and some more sand dunes fun.
Hopefully this glorious (stable) sunshine holds out for the best of this week.
Its on to Cradle Mountain NP tomorrow for some more wilderness hiking. This I'm really looking forward to. It will be cold- very cold but we are hopeful of this sunshine as well!!
Echidna count today = 0.
