Outback Adventure 2019
Day 7
Coober Pedy - Marla - SA/NT Border - Kulgera - Erldunda - Curtin Springs
It was quite a cool morning this morning at 6.30 when we awoke. Corinne and Lana made a dash to wash their hair before we hit the road today. We rolled out at 7.30 to fuel and start our next leg.
We had an ambitious target of 650ks today to get to Curtin Springs. We didn’t make it last trip and we were determined to this time!
About 50ks out of Coober we hit roadwork.....as in they were laying the entire road. Both lanes blocked until they put the road down! We waited about 20mins before we could follow a car carrier and the rolling road machines through to get back on our way.
We fueled at Marla and continued to the border which was packed full of cars, vans and trucks. We still managed the touristy pic swatting all the flies away that wanted to photobomb with us and headed back to the Disco to drive another 25ks to Kulgera for our lunch stop. Kulgera is the first and last pub and roadhouse in the NT.....and I reckon their pricing matches that statement.
We continued North and topped up at Erdunda. $2.04.9 a litre for Diesel! Woah there! Lucky it was only a top up! They even had an Emu farm out the back- they were everywhere!
Turning left at Erldunda we hit the Lassiter’s Highway and the road towards Uluru.
We drove past Mt Connor and then Mt Ebenezer Station where we stayed last trip. Sadly it’s closed and very run down....which we are not sad about at all. It really was a crap place!
About 100ks further along we rolled into Curtin Springs Station just after 4pm and our campsite tonight. Had a great sunset tonight with a few drinks and chicken on the bbq for dinner.
We drove a hefty 649kms today and are ready to hit Yulara tomorrow for the next 4 nights.
