Sunday night we decided to go for it with driving. Last trip seemed to take forever and we had to make so many stops with the kids. So we thought that once the kids were asleep we'd make the most of it until it was not safe to keep going. We had hoped to make it to Ashland, which is just before the California border in Oregon. We made good time and got through Washington fast and into Oregon.
Unlike in Australia, we could just drive into Ashland around 2-2:30am and find somewhere to stay. We actually got a really nice place that turned out to have a heated indoor pool and a few other great things we never tried out ourselves. I don't think we had to pay for Silas, so the room with two queen beds cost us about $83US. All the places like this (hotel/motel places) include continental breakfast, and often waffles. This usually means a dispenser machine that you get waffle mix out of and make them yourself. We always seemed to empty the fruit bowls....
We took our time heading off and left about 11am after the kids had stretched their legs.
Later that day we stopped in a small town for lunch and got some FRESH kinds of food - like grapes, bananas and yogurt. We let the kids play for another hour or so at a park before getting them in the car again.
Even with the stops, we made good progress, and decided to press on to get to Jonathan's mom's that night. We wanted to get their around Tuesday morning, but we arrived their about 11:30pm that night. Woohoo!!!!!
