Yes, i think i would describe yesterday as abit of a hike... an understatement, it nearly killed me but as you can see from the photos it was well worth it. I don't think I had any realisation what i was letting myself in for. Antigua is surrouned by 33 volcanos with 3 still active. About an hour from Antigua is the Pacaya Volcano. We were informed at the bottom that we had about an hour an half walk up to where the lava was, alittle hilly but it would soon level off! it never did, it was vertical and only seemed to get worse. We soon got into positions with me and a dutch girl comforting each other at the back.' Slow and steady wins the race and all that. As we descended towards the lava things got quite hairy walking over the volcanic rock. There were a few old fashioned gentlemen who waited and helped us ladies! who ever heard of Health and Safety rules, walk where you like, don't worry about the lava underneath you! It's only about 2000 degrees.I hope you bought marshmallows our guide laughed at us!by sunset we were joined by lots of other tourists so space for good photos became a premium. The hike had been worth and as we headed down in the pitch black i was so grateful that my mad american housemate had told me to buy a torch. It was seriously useful and i was so happy with myself until i saw people with little lights attached to their hats. True Professionals, i have abit to go yet..
School is going well. Appartently I speak well besides the odd words of italian that appear every now and then. My teacher took me for alittle walk today to 'her friend' who is going to unblock my phone.. but let's now mention that!!
