Buenos Dias England
After Ko Lanta we got the boat across to Phi Phi on the 11th Jan. We had 4 nights stay here. The ferry across was only an hour and a half, by this time we had been told phi phi is in such high demand at this time if year and that we would struggle to find accommodation. We decided to take the risk and head over to phi phi with nowhere to stay. On the actual ferry they had tourist information touts on the boat, we asked some questions and he said he would try sort us out, but when we got there we just so happened to get a cheap room for 5, but as the single beds are like our double beds, we easily got 6 in, so it was nice go have us all together and we got a much cheaper price than we thought. There is a small entry fee for Ko phi phi and instantly as we arrived, we all could tell this looked like a beautiful island. Finally we arrived somewhere where it was piping hot!!!
We headed across to our accommodation by foot as there are no cars on the island, everyone just gets around by a push bike or will just walk as the pathways are quite narrow. Even though the locals were on there bike, we were still getting beeped out of the way by the little bicycle bell. We had to wSit another hour until we could check in, so we had a wonder about. Very tiny island, lots of stalls selling fresh pineapple and fruit shakes.... There was an Irish pub, lots of other places selling clothes, jewellery, make up etc.... And lots of cool bamboo tattoo shops. When we did eventually check in we headed straight to the beach, clear White sand, clear turquoise waters, kayaking boats, lots of long boats, parasailing, so lots to do if you wanted to.
As soon as we layed our towels down... The sun went in ha ha, no word of a lie, it was as though the sun said to itself, oh no... Not these Essex girls again! But don't fret the sun poked it's head out a bit later. We just chilled by this point and headed back to the room around 5..... That night we had all been talking about having a tattoo sone, so that night Clo took the bull by the horns and had her first tattoo, didn't hurt, was more like an annoying scratching sensation. They used bamboo which is like a long stuck with a sharpe blade on the end, it's so intriguing to watch that we would take ages to walk back to our room. After we all headed out to the popular bars, Dojo's, and then onto Slinkys. The music all turns off around half one, so people make there way to the beach bars instead.
Next day we booked a boat trip to take us to the islands surrounding Phi Phi. We started off around 9am on a long boat, we were like whippets and me, Jo and Beth managed to grab the only section of the boat that gets the sun.... And boy was it a hot day, we visited:
Bamboo island- very small, beautiful White soft sand, very clean, you can sleep over here and we met some people who had spent christmas day here, really some amazing views, we were all taken photos of one another having a pose in the water, our cheese signal was more like 'breath in' ha ha. Before this stop we had the chance to get out and snorkel, the fish were incredible, so many if them and such bright colours and at night we would imagine they would glow in the dark, bright purple, yellow, green, orange.... And jo saw a large shark which she said was incredible, she pooped it as she thought I (Chloe) was near her, but I was heading back to the boat then.
Mosquito island- we only snorkelled here which is good as the Mosquitos like us all a bit too much at the moment, especially poor little Beth, we've tried tiger balm, this pink liquid, all different types of spray, but still no luck. The island was very big, the scenery was all green and the sun shone brightly overlooking the island.
Monkey island- this was stunning, the sand as soft as flour and yes there are monkeys that come down from within the trees to be fed by the tourists. We were lucky enough to have a monkey come down, and even though it was just one, it came right up close to us and one of the girls fed it. The monkey had such a long tail and small beady eyes that were really close together and the colour of an bet traffic light. Out of all the fresh fruits and rolls, the monkey seemed to enjoy the sugared doughnuts the best! We had some great photos here in and out of the water and you can have a professional photo printed then and there with a frame if you want... We made them put our group photo on the tourist stand ha ha.
Phi Phi lay lagoon- this was breathtaking...we ended two massive grooves of rock and we entered this small enclosure with about 5 other boats. Our whole boat got in here, the water was so fresh, a clear mint colour and everyone was taking in the vast views of eroded cliffs that towered over the entire lagoon. When you shouted you could hear your own echo.... We all loved it here. The scenery was just like in a holiday brochure.
Viking cave- we just passed this but it looked incredible, as though it was going to cave it at anytime, very big and had alot of support from underneath as It looked so top heavy.
Maya bay- lastly we stopped off here where the film ' the beach' was made. Again very beautiful and the busiest of them all, with other longs boats doing a similar thing as us.
On the way back to phi phi we watched the sunset, Which was around half 6... The que boat went quiet it was that stunning. The sunset took about half hour and there were loads of other boats in the water watching too, it was so peaceful and relaxing and really incredible. When we got back we headed out for a quick bite to eat and we were that tired that we ended up going to bed for the whole night!
Next day we beached it again and this time Cheryl got a tattoo, me, Cheryl, Jo and Nikki also got a piercing as well (a minor one), so we all felt like we were entering the travellers philosophy of 'yeah man, let's just do whatever the hell we wanna do' at the moment though no one wants dreds!! Next night Jo joined the group by getting a tattoo too, same as Beth and I got my second!! We all went out the that night to celebrate our spontaneous times!!
