Rob and Jen bumming round the world for a bit
hello to all from franz josef, home of the franz josef glasier.
We're just taking an hour or two out to update everyone on what we've been doing after arriving in Franz Josef after a 4 hour drive from wanaka.
we've been in our Spaceship about a week now and we've just clocked up 1000 miles. Thank god the car is automatic, think i would have sacked in the driving if i'd have to deal with a clutch and gear box on these bloody roads.
Anyway, since i last entered some fantastic information on this site, we've mainly been driving around the country (just the South Island to be more precise). we've had two stins of 2 days in Queenstown, with a drive up to Milford Sound, with its amazing scenery, and a night in Te Anau. On our second stint in Queenstown we took the Gondala (what us normal people would call a cable car) to the top of Bob's Peak on the edge of the town, where we had a go or two on the luge ride down the side of part of the hill (or mountain, i'm not sure), which was fun.
Yesterday saw us arrive in Wanaka for a nights stay, only an hour and a half from Queenstown, so we had most of the day to do something. We choose to go to 'Puzzling World', a collection of mind bending rooms, holograms and the like and also a big old maze. This gave us a good few hours of childlike amusement.
So, as i said, we're in Franz Josef at the mo, and we've just booked a guided trek up the glacier tomorrow afternoon, which i'm not sure if i'm looking forward to or dreading, it cqan be quite tiring i hear!
Anyhow, cheers for any messages you've put on the board and keep them coming. And remember all, only 8 weeks till the World Cup!
Rob
