OK, so first things first...i am back from my motorbike trip and i am safe - the trip was amazing, like most things it had its ups and downs - ups for example were the views, riding through the moutains was just unbelievable! I got to see so many things that i just dont have time to write them all down now, but when i get round to uploading the photos, you will see how fantastic is was - the downs for example were riding in the rain (i got soaked) the crazy people on the roads, spotting a beautiful but very dangerous snake in the resturant of one of the guesthouses, then being scared all night! Tony (my guide) being so nice that it drove me insane - honestly, he was too much of a gentleman - he wiped my cutlery, served my food, poured my drinks, cut my fish, asking if i was ok about 1000 times a day! ARGH!!! it was too much, yet on the flip side, when i didnt give him a tip at the end of the journey, he went ape s***! told me i was a bad person and to go away - I was so angry that i stormed off to my room, sod him!
Anyway, let me tell you breifly about the trip, we started off in Nha Trang then went to a place called...nope, i cant remember, but its in the central highlands, then we went to Da Lat and then ended in Mui Ne beach - this is a beautiful place where the weather and the views were glorious, but it is basically an 11km stretch of hotels, shops, cafes etc...so there wasnt a lot to do there, i stayed there one night and decided to head to Saigon (Ho Chi Mihn City).
I arrived here last night, found a guest house and was so tired that i didnt leave my room (i watched a really good film called A Good Year with Russell Crow and the kid from Nanny Mcphee and Love Actually) this morning, i went for breakfast (Chocolate psncake and a coffee) then went to a travel agents to see what was on offer - I decided to do a trip of the city, we went to some temples, a market (where i was going to buy some flip flops as my beloved ones that are the comfiest things in the world that i have had for years finally broke on me) but anyway, withing the market, no one would sell me flip flops, they kept saying 'no sell, no sell' so i dont know what was going on there, maybe it was because im a westener - Rasist b******s!!! - We went to the War Crimes Museum, now, i like to think that although i cry at films and stupid things like that, im pretty tough...but god, i had tears in my eyes the whole time i was in the museum, some of the the pictures where horrific - and not just of soldiers, but if the public with Napalm burns, Orange Bomb burns and so much more...it was really disturbing. Next we went to a palace of some sort, i think it is where the president used to or does live (im not sure the guide was hard to understand so i stopped listening) Then finally we went to the Notre Dame Cathedral which is a Catholic church - The decor inside was really interesting, they had statues of christ etc...but there were neon signs and lights around some of them, it reminded me of the film Dogma, so i took lots of photos in there untill my camera ran out of battery!
Tomorrow i am starting my journey to Cambodia, i have had enough of Vietnam as it is quite expensive - I am taking a 2 day 1 night tour to Phenom Phen (Cambodia), This will take me to a couple of places in the Mekong Delta where i will get the chance to take boat trips, see a floating market etc...so it should be good!
So, my next blog i expect will be from Cambodia (it may be a couple of days, but dont worry mum, il email as soon as i can)
