I am in Sihanoukville and arrived here the day before yesterday! I have found my little piece of heaven!
It is a beach town, and practically everything you need is on the beach, and my guesthouse is a 2 minute walk away from the beach...Perfect!
On my first day here, i sat on the beach all day, just relaxing and in the evening i went to a beach party on another beach about 15mins away, i meet a few people there including an english couple called Johno and Lucy, unfortunately Lucy was a bit ill so we had to take her back to the hotel quite early!
The next day i was lounging on the beach, reading my book outside of a bar called the Dolphin Shack, when i noticed a sign saying 'Western staff wanted' so i chatted to one of the bar staff (Rodney) and he said that if i wanted to work i could, all you have to do is hand out a few flyers during the day, turn up to the bar at around 9 and then serve until about 4ish. You dont get paid, but you do get free food and free drinks (and you can drink what ever you want) sometimes, if you stay there long enough they arrange free accomodation as well!
So i worked my first night last night, just to see if i could hack it and it was ok - Hard work as i had no idea how to make the cocktails, how much everything was, where everything thing was and i was really worried about giving the wrong change as its in a mixture of Dollars and Riel - Come 2am i was so tired and my head hurt so i went home - Im not sure if will go back and continue working there as although it could be good fun, i really dont think i can handle working till 4 every day, especially as i didnt get up until 12 this morning, so thats half a day gone! We will have to see!
