Hi Claire. In Vietnam, if you go via a proxy website you can still visit facebook. If you go to ho chi Minh city then stop by wrap and roll restaurant. They do fantastic fresh veggie spring rolls and banana leaf salad.
Also check out choco pies if you go on the train, you can pick them up at local shops and they're a great snack. They have restaurant carts on the trains but as no one speaks English you'll have to point to the food you want. Not sure if you''ll want to eat pho, do you eat meat these days?
Also the hawkers are relentless, so just try to keep upbeat, it's the Vietnamese way. Theyd try to sell you the clothes on their back if they could. Get used to getting ripped off.
Oh and one last thing, they don't do queuing so you'll have to fight to buy train tickets etc.
You'll have a fab time. Very jealous!

A very quick message from Chiang Mai to say I hope you are well - really been enjoying ur pics and blog entries and now can't wait for Singapore! We're still in northern Thailand and next stops are Luang Prabang and Vientiane in Laos and then probably Vietnam after that. How long are you there for and do you have a vague itinerary? We'll probs be heading north first to Hanoi and Halong Bay? Let me know if that ties in with you? After that we're heading south around the coast-ish, into cambodia and then back to Bangkok before heading to South Thailand. All a bit whistle-stop and chaotic but loving it so far.
