G'day possums,
We're in Oz! Arrived in Darwin from Bali 2 weeks ago and we generally mooched about the city complaining about "how expensive it is here compared to Asia (and England for that matter)!" until we went on a 3 day 4WD camping safari tour of the Kakadu National Park (where Crocodile Dundee was filmed!). It was a fantastic trip and the landscape and wildlife there is just amazing. Traveling around in a big 4x4 was great way to get to places a little off the beaten track (away from the tour buses) and walking to the top of some big hills gave us some amazing views- and well earned swims! A boat trip on a misty billabong was also a highlight, where we got our first look at the crocs (freshwater and the much larger Saltwater Crocodiles). This area has the highest concentration of crocodiles in the world! Food was cooked for us in the evenings by our guide, Steve, on an open fire and after a few tinnies we settled down in our swag bags with a mosi-net tent over us and looked up at the beautiful starey night skies. See the photo gallery for more of what we did....
Well, we've decided to head for Sydney and New South Wales tonight in search of work and waves (and my mountainboard!). Flying seems to be the quickest way there- its 4000km from here!
We'll update again from Sydney and put the rest of teh Asia photos online then too.
Hope you're all enjoying the summer at home and congrats to Louise and Dave who tied the knot on Saturday!
Catch ya later alligators (or crocodiles),
Ian and Clare xxx.
