Vang Vieng - Tubing
After a crazzzzyy coach ride with virtually no leg room, on the bumpiest road, along the edge of cliffs we were relieved to finally arrive in Viangveng. We arrived at about 2am expecting the usual, annoying haggling of locals trying to get us into TukTuk to take us to their Guest House. However, the one time we wanted some local knowledge there was NO one in sight and the place seemed deserted. Eventually we found a TukTuk but he had no idea where any of the hostels mentioned in our Lonely planet book were. Luckily we bumped into Cheewa, a Canadian guy who works in a local guesthouse and bar. He saved the day and took us to Nana Guesthouse which was actually really lovely.
The following day we went tubing which was amazing. It's basically a looonnngg river with bars either side. And you float down the river on the inner tube of a tractors tyre! AMAZING! The music and atmosphere just hit us as we walked across the wooden bridge to the start. We Had a bucket of our rocket fuel drink in the first bar, mingled with others then floated down to the next bar and so on. Each bars setting and music getting better and better. We also bumped into Elsa and Linda who we trekked with. It Was really great to see them and hopefully they realise now that we do have personalities and don't moan ALL the time.
Later on that evening we went and got some food in a restaurant which was playing reggae and Soul and went onto a few different bars and had a REALLY funny night with some great people but also some pests. Seriously guys? If a girl says NO, it means NO! I'm sure Shell and Sarah will tell you all in more detail but to cut a long (cringey) story short. i basically befriended a tramp (Ol' Man River) an extremely old and smelly one at that. After licking his face I Introduced him to Shell and Sarah and made them stroke his knee length beard. I said the words 'Boom Boom?' thinking this meant, 'dance?' To find out boom boom does not mean dance and actually means sexy time? The 3 of us ended up having to run away and run home with him following saying 'why you scare O me?' it was hilarious once we got away!
