Well I guess this trip was written in the stars. After a stint living in London I reluctantly headed home with an expired visa and my first broken heart. All quite dramatic at the time.
One kitten and labradoodle later, life in Adelaide still wasn't working for me, then a friend suggested I join her on her travels to Africa. I hadn't been to Africa proper (I'm talking the africa with lions and other furry friends) so this was possibly the best idea I had heard. Ever.
Next thing you know there I was; jumping out a plane in Namibia, marveling at the majestic big cats of the Serengeti, swimming with great whites in South Africa, playing soccer with the kids of lake Malawi, basically having the time of my life (regardless of the whole camping thing, beds do exist for a reason) and wouldn't you know it, I met a boy. A Victorian, vegetarian one at that, some of you know him by Emmett.
2 and a bit years later we find ourselves living a happy, comfy life here in Adelaide, so of course it's time to shake things up! So off we go, 6 months of traveling to some pretty far flung destinations.
In less then a week we will be in the land of great walls, poo pants and pandas, starting in Beijing. The train will takes us through Mongolia and Russia, ending in St Petersburg after a few stops. Being my Russian extends to yes and no this could be interesting, though I figure vodka is a global language, one in which I am particularly fluent in.
From Russia is off to Scandy and the Baltics for about a month. Very much looking forward to this, not sure my circulation challenged toes will feel the same in the arctic circle though. Hoping for a sighting of Santa, or a the very least a reindeer or two.
Then LONDON is calling, for a whole week. Oxford street here I come. Iceland beckons next, this is Emmett's baby, so I'll just follow him for some lagoon related fun.
We leave Europe for Canada, eh. Toronto and French Canada to be exact. A drive though Boston will lead to NYC for a week in one of the best cities in the world.
From here our adventure takes on a Latin twist, two months in South America, beginning in Columbia. So far we have a tucan tour booked in from Lima to La Paz (Peru to Bolivia) including the Inca Trek, which will be amazing regardless of those big mountains I will be forced to climb. Other than that we are hoping to check out Ecuador, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
This will all see us home just in time for a visit from the fat, jolly guy in the red suit.
So there you have it, now you know what your up for. I'll try to keep this as up to date as possible, but I make no promises! In the same vein, please excuse any typing errors, it will clearly be the keyboard, not my poor spelling
