Claire's Global Trek
Today I completed the 3rd day of the Thai cooking course. What a blast I had, so many new and interesting things infiltrated my brain that I can't wait to explore further! I finished the day with a thai massage and relutantly prepared for my return to Bangkok. I want more of Chiang Mai!
After travelling back on sleeper train - an interesting experience hovering on the squat toilets as you can see the tracks below HAHA! The wee hours of the morning were greeted by the usual barrage of tuk-tuk drivers vying for your business - but I'm now a veteren in that area! Had a quick shower and thought about what I was going to do to kill 12 hours before I set off on the bus South.
I decided to checkout the subway system a few locals were raving about, so I hopped on and was VERY impressed, so clean, fast and issue-free! Nine stops later I started exploring the Saturday markets - amazing stuff, you could go mad if you were visiting specifically to shop. I haven't quite seen a setup like it before - an endless array of shops selling everything from tacky thailand souveniors to luxurious silks and my favourite, the misspelt t-shirts. The t-shirt de jour being "Btuch Atomic Babe".
Food was plentiful (when in Thailand is it not), so I ate (for something different) and set on my back to wait for the 7pm bus. Took an interesting diversion to China Town and again, the people, noise, energy was something quite visually stimulating. I now make my way down South to commence a 7-day fast (or thereabouts) on Koh Samui.
