Ru and Bear's Global Escapade
What can I say? Fiji is simply idyllic.
I've spent a wonderful 10 days hopping between paradise islands so tiny it takes just a few minutes to walk all the way round them - it's very difficult to get lost here! Whenever and wherever I go ashore, there is a warm "Bula!" greeting, a Fijian welcome song, a flower to tuck behind my ear and a tropical cocktail. They really know how to make you feel at home! Infectious smiles, a laid-back vibe, traditional buras (thatched huts) along the shore... my idea of bliss!
The warm South Pacific waters are crystal clear; perfect for snorkelling - even better for diving! I've done three more dives and I could hardly believe my eyes... there were incredible coral reefs of every variety and colour, teeming with beautiful fish and sealife I've never seen before. I've seen a sea snake, sea-horses, sting rays and even a shark's tail as he swam away (phew!). We live in an amazing world.
I've been chilling out on deserted beaches of silky white sand, the peace broken only by my friendly host calling me for afternoon drinks. Lazy days in hammocks in the sun, gently rocking all my cares away. Cold beers, spectacular sunsets and great company in the evenings. Each time I move on, the islanders sing a traditional Fijian farewell song as I sail away... all part of the service!
Today I went sailing on a beautiful old sail boat, and visited the island where Tom Hanks filmed 'Castaway'. The word 'Help' is spelled out in coconuts on the sand, but it was very tempting to mess it up... who on Earth would want to be rescued from such paradise??!
Fiji has been bliss. I'd love to come back again one day!
Hope all is good with you. All my love, Emma xxx
