Last night was the coldest night ever!! We were so cold in the tent that first thing in the morning we decided to move on, hopefully somewhere warmer! We had just one last stop in the Tablelands, a crater, that was formed when a nearby volcano expelled some gas or something like that - it was basically just a big hole! Claire wanted to throw something in the hole like a stick or a rock, but a little boy next to us got a lecture from his mum about how people shouldn't interfere with nature and throw things in big holes, so Claire didn't bother.
So we continued down windy roads through rainforest and over mountains until we reached out most Northerly destination - Port Douglas.
This was where Claire had been looking forward since we watched 'Fools Gold' back in KL, part of the movie was filmed here and it looked amazing. It didn't dissapoint either, though a little pricey for the likes of us, Port Douglas is a really cool place. Everything is lined by palm trees, loads and loads of cool cafes and wine bars with a marina full of huge yachts.
We checked into our first hostel since Sydney (well camped round the back). We were out of the town a little bit but it was ok.
We spent the afternoon trying out our new fishing rod. We had decided that we would do some fishing a few days ago and we bought the cheapest possible rod from K-mart. It probably wasn't the best fishing rod in the world as all we caught was some sea weed but it was worth a try for a free tea.
We realised that this could be one of our last nights as the 3 of us, as
Charlotte was thinking of staying here to work whilst we moved back down the coast and also that we hadn't eaten out since Brisbane so the 3 of us went to a chinese restaurant for a posh meal.
