With compliments to our overly priced campsite we fired out onto the road up to Kings Canyon - some say it's more impressive that Uluru.
On the way we came across our first wild and alive kangaroo! He was just sitting in the road, but quickly hopped off when he saw us - honestly, it was like seeing Father Christmas when your a kid! We are no longer paying rock tax now, it's unfortunately Canyon tax at $33 for a piece of grass space!
Feeling energetic we decided to do the 6-7km canyon rim walk, not really knowing what to expect it was pretty cool when we got there. A huge 20million year old canyon towering probably 500m high. The climb to the top was pretty tough, but once there we didnt complain. The views surrounding us were amazing. Walking the crevices and over ledges with sheer vertical drops 2feet away was something on its own - some people were actually crawling to the edge so they could have a look over.
The whole canyon was orange in colour, dusty, quiet and deserted. We were half expecting Road Runner to come flying past. The walk then took us down to the Garden of Eden where there was a watering hole, plants that cant even be dated, and wildlife.
We soon completed the walk and have got to say that both today and yesterday has been exactly what we imagined Australia to be like - hot, dusty, huge, red sand, absolutely nothing for miles around and unique. What even topped it off was the wild dingo that came into the park! Whilst everyone kept their distance, we were the only ones running after the thing to get a photo!
