The internet is asically non existant in Fiji so we're not able to do an entry for every day now, so we'll just do an entry for every place we go. Hope thats ok because it will hav to be now....
First dayin Fiji and guess what?? Rain! Not that it was going to stop us, we had a boat to catch.
We've booked onto the Bula Pass which enables us to island hop all around the Yasawa Islands. Our trip to Gold Coast Resort on Nanuya Lailai Island took us 5 hours.
It is a very small family run place and very basic. We are staying in Beach Bures - beach huts. There was no electricity in the rooms and the only light is from an oil lamp which they light for us at about 7pm.
We spent the afternoon lazing on the hammocks and as the weather was a bit brighter on the white sandy beach.
At dinner we joined the other Gold Coast guests - all 2 of them. A friendly German girl called Rebecca and a funny Finnish lad called Ante. Our dining room we soon realised was also the reception, kitchen, guest lounge and family living room. This didnt stop the food being absolutely delicious though, fresh fish straight from the sea, with the sound of Prison Break in the background with all the family surrounded round a tiny DVD player.
With nothing much else to do we had an early night struggling to read in the pitch black room by an oil lamp.
The sun woke us up at daft o'clock in the morning so after a Paw Paw Melon breakfast we spent the day on the beach soaking up the Fijian sun.
Next door to our island is Turtle Island. A very expensive resort and can only be reached by James Bond style sea plane. So in the afternoon as told by the Gold Coast staff Turtle Islands little dingy came sailing by the resort and Dave is certain that Mariah Carey gave him a wave.
In the afternoon, Dave went exploring the island looking for the famous Blue Lagoon, but unfortunately got lost in the process on all the hilly tracks and paths - he even had to take photos of all the junctions in the path to find his way back!
Dinner came round again and this time there was another 2 of us, Canadian and French girls. It was another nice meal which was briefly interrupted by falling geckos from the roof, flying cockroaches and a huge crab that had escaped from the kitchen. Oh how the Fijians laughed...
