After we regrettably left White Sandy Beach we headed to Manta Ray Resort/Island for 2 nights.
Manta Ray was a really nice place with a much more 'posh resort' type feeling. The food here was more like a restaurant standard and the our room was a really nice hut on stilts. One of the highlights of Manta Ray is the snorkelling from the beach. It is seaid to be the best in the Yasawas and it's easy to see why, you swim out just 5 metres and you are immediatley surrounded by thousands of fish and coral. It was really impressive, Dave even saw a shark chilling out just meters away from the beach. It was the wrong season for Manta Rays unfortunately! The staff at Manta Ray were also really friendly though at the night time it was a bit quiet - they didn't put any entertainment on or anything. After 2 days we were ready to move on and we caught the ferry down to South Sea Island
South Sea Island was probably the most boring night we have had in Fiji. We set off with visions of a paradise island that you can walk around in less than 5 minutes with palm trees, coconuts and white sand. We were dissappointed to find what looked basically like a run down shack on a rocky bay with crap food and a smelly 32 bed dorm. It was just so booooring as well, there was nothing to do at all! We did get our first experience of crab racing which was fun for about 5 minutes but that didn't make up for the hours of nothing at all to do. We didn't want to stay in the morning so caught the first ferry back North to Bounty Island.
Bounty Island is the perfect example of a Paradise Island! It was the setting for the first series of ITVs Celebrity Love Island (though the set has been pulled down and sent to various other islands) and you can see why. The beach is amazing and with the hot sunshine and the swimming pool we settled in fast. We met up with a couple of friends here, people we had met on other islands.and we really enjoyed it. We were in a dorm again but as we knew everyone anyway it was great fun. The only slight downfall was that the resident dive instructor was a bit of a git, so much so that we chose not to go diving, as the idea of spending a full day alone on a boat with him was not a very fun one. The 2 nights we spent here were great fun but we still planned to leave tomorrow so it was just a question of where...
