¡Hola! It's the first day of my four weeks in Marbella, Spain. I've just come from a beautiful, hot and sunny weekend in Cambridge to find that it's cold and wet in Marbella - what's going on??! This is not what I signed up for (or indeed packed for, brrr)!

My first day of Spanish classes went well - they seem to be at a good level and not going to fast or too slow. My classmates are from England, USA, Holland, Germany and Sweden and range in age from 15 to 74 so quite a mix! Hopefully my language skills will improve soon because I'm staying with a lovely Spanish couple and I barely understand a word they say to me! Their flat is small but comfortable, I have my own room and bathroom and can come and go as I please. They have a balcony with a view right down to the sea which is lovely - apparently on a clear day it is possible to see right across to Africa!

I couldn't play golf today due to the weather but I intend to play a lot while I'm here - it will be necessary to walk off the amount of tapas that I'll be stuffing my face with...
