Xi'an is the home of the Terracotta Warriors. They are located in a site a bit out of the city and, given that it's basically a working archaeological site, they've done a very good job of making it accessible to tourists. The scale of the main pit is vast - filled with life-size warriors and horses that have mostly been uncovered and, in some cases, reconstructed (where they had broken). The original colours have faded on the warriors that were uncovered so, in the other smaller pits, the figures have mostly been left covered up. It's hard to believe that they are over 2,000 years old! It was an impressive site.
Back in Xi'an, within the bounds the city walls, around the old drum and bell towers, the streets of the Muslim Quarter are lined with shops and stalls selling food and souvenirs - it's a buzzing area and especially fun to explore at night.
I wish I'd had more time in Xi'an when it wasn't bucketing with rain - it seemed like an interesting and lively place with more things to see and do in and around the city.
