Arrived in the Boston area about 3:30pm, checked into the Econolodge in Malden, MA (a suburb of Boston). This is part 1 of our 3 city trip - Day 1: (Sun., Sept. 15) - Left Sterling Heights, MI at 7:30am for our 13 hour trek to New England. Van loaded to the brim the night before with furniture for Sarah and boxes for Amy. Stephanie and Ray Rondy Wedding! Left Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend for the Petoskey area for the wedding of Stephanie Havenstein, Tammy's daughter, and Ray Rondy. Took the two lanes all the way up, just for the fun of it, and stopped at any number of flea markets, garage sales, and "pickin'" spots. Managed to not acquire too much stuff to haul home. The perfect ending for our 1st annual Grandkid / Grandparent getaway. The Bontekoes, The Jaccards and The Brooks all caravanned from from Hershey, PA (see blog) to Lancaster, PA for a little shopping, ice cream and fun. We strolled around the town, grabbed lunch, played in the playground, road ponies, then it was time to go home (3 different states). Everyone gave hugs goodbye and headed out about 3pm.
