This is stop 1 of our 3 stop vacation! Please also read stops 2 & 3.
Day 1: Sunday, September 13, 2015. Left home bright and early heading east for Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Trip delayed a day to attend Rachel (Rzeznik) and Brian Powers wedding reception Saturday, so the journey to Cape Cod had to be done in one day instead of the preferred two. A 13 hour drive. Smooth sailing all day until just before dark when the steady rain began to fall and just as soon as we were out on the Cape the rains came in Forrest Gump-in-Vietnam fashion. We made it in by about 10PM to Dennis Port, MA, accomodations at the Bluegreen Soundings Resort.
Day 2: Monday, September 14, 2015. Slept in a little late and got ready for a journey to the seashore. Arriving late as we did and pitch dark as it was last night, we didn't notice that our room was a whole 150 feet from the shore. Today the weather was a lot better, lots of sun and respectable temperature for this time of year. When we ventured out to the beach, we discovered a good, strong wind that kicked up sand to the point of basically sand-blasting our hides, so we opted to seek shelter at the pool, behind a plexiglass wind break. We left shortly after to head toward Provincetown and the Cape Cod National Seashore. Brunch was at the Surf Club Restaurant on the shore, after which we toured the area. Lots of art themed shops and displays throughout, capped off with a tour of Pilgrim's Tower. The park portion included some whale watching from the observation deck and the frequency of sightings impressed even the park rangers. Viewed short movies about the area.
Day 3: Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
Day 4: Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
