The Great Escape
Hello
We just left queenstown the other day after going up the gill in the gondola. This was awesome with great views over queenstown and the luge up there is grereat fun, zooming down a fast track on some plastic sheet with wheels and a steering wheel.
We also did a couple of days skiiing at cardrona resort. That was excellent, although i found it really hard and nearly broke my legs. It so easy to bust your knees aswell, so i was relievd to get over that one. So was hannah as we found tthe first day really sore - falling on our backsides for most of it!
We then went on the shotover canyon jet boating - the ultra fast boat speeds throug small canyons pulling 360 degree spins at 50 mph - AWESOme! and really good fun.
We then drove to Franz Josef to see the glacier there. We went up in a helipcopter and we then got off and hiked over the glacier for a few hours - ive never seen anything like it - a kilometre across and over 1000ft tall i think. It was excellent with many ice caves and crags to climb through.
We then got on the helicopter and returned. We are off to Greymouth for a night then off to nelson to look up north at the abel-tasman area.
