The next day we were on a day trip to a place called kep. We had a different mode of transport this time as the 4x4 had just died so we had some mini bus which was good coz it had a/c. Our first stop before Kep was the caves in Kampot, We arrived and looked really daunting at first as it was litterally a small black hole we had to crawl in to and im not the best when it comes to small spaces but when we all crawled in it was quite spacious inside. It was funny because the guide came without a torch so lucky one of the boys had one with him as we would be crawling in the dark. There were certain areas with cracks in the top where light came through and there were loads of bats, you coulnt see them really but the odd few flew past the light and they were doing that high pitched sqeeking to freak us out. We travelled through the caves and it was really impressive, but not as good as dan arogof mind!! ha!! So we did that and the next stop then was the pepper plantations. Apparently Kampot is world famous for their Pepper and apparently all the top restaraunts in paris had to have their pepper on the their tables, im just a fact machine!!! we strolled around the vines or what ever they were called and ate a few peper cornes which was descusting, we could have bought some from the farm but he only sold by the kilo which wouldnt have been practical in out rucksacks.
So then we went down to Kep, we were visiting there for its beaches which were meant to be nice but when we got there the main beach there wasnt the best it reminded me of swansea bay in a way as it was overlooked by a road next to the beach but we didnt complain as there was a boat trip to an island off Kep called Rabbit island. It was $15 to hire the boat and all of us jumped on and headed out. It was very impressive and really beautifull as you could tell it wasnt spoilt by tourism much as there were a few shacks you could stay but nothing else really, we didnt fancy staying here for a night as there wouldnt be anything to do in the night. Apparently there is lots of wildlife in the jungle on the island including big cats like tigers and such so we didnt venture in to there although it would be cool seeing one from a far. We basically chilled on the beach for a few hours and went in the water and basically just took it all in. As it was a big group of us it was a good laugh so it was a really good day out and the whole day onle cost about $10 which is only a fiver. We then did the same the night before and had a meal then went to bed as we knew we had a long day ahead of us as we were travelling in to a different country and border crossings are nightmares as all the scum of the earth hide there to ripe tourists off so we were practicing our mean faces ready to warn them off.
