Greetings from the beauiful Emerald Isle. I must say that when the weather is good in Ireland it is honestly one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Its a pity that we only get a summer like the one that has just passed every fifty years! Talking of summer I’m going to be arriving back in Perth in less than six weeks just at the start of their summer and I can’t wait.
I officially finished my ten week internship with Unbound a week ago. I really enjoyed my last three weeks as we had a YWAM team from Hawaii with us. It was also an exciting time for Unbound as they are in the process of moving the book shop to a more central part of the city and we all helped them in preparing for this. Also in this time there was a team evangelists over from the USA who did some teaching on the prophetic and healing. We went out with them one night in Cork city and saw many healings of which ill mention two. We were lead into turkish kebab shop and asked if anyone had pain in their arm to which one of the workers replied that he had. After one of the Americans prayed for him his wrist ws fully healed which had been hurting for weeks. Later on the same guy felt lead to go into MacDonalds and asked a group of young people if any of them had pain in their legs. One young lad did and after he prayed for him in Jesus’ name this lad was also completly healed which left him astonished! It was a great night and since then we have been out doing similar types of evangelism. One day we hit the streets with a free healing sign but that didn’t draw into too many people. It was great having the YWAM team over and I finally got to do some regular evangelism which I love as there is nothing greater than sharing Father Gods love with his children.
Two weeks ago on the saturday night something truly amazing took place in Cork. Before I returned to Cork God had given me a strategy to start a move towards unity in all the different Churches in Cork. It was to get the young adults to come together and do street worship and evangelism together. It was an incredible night during which young adults from six different Churches in Cork came together. We unashamedly worshipped and danced on the streets of Cork that night sharing our faith with whoever stopped to listen. By the time we had finished there was a supernatural peace on the streets and the street pastors later commented on how peaceful the streets were that night. Its gonna take place again in two weeks and im hoping for more people and more Churches to be represented. We know as believers where there is unity God commands a blessing and Psalm 133:1 says, “how good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity”. As the Church unites in this city God is going to move in a very powerful way.
Tomorrow myself and my sister Emma are going to Dublin to see Will Reagan and United Pursuit perform. I can’t wait as it was at the same concert five months ago that I first properly met my girlfriend Liz. Then from Dublin we are making our way to the opposite side of Ireland to a beautiful place called Lahinch. We will be staying there for two nights during which time Emma will receive three surf lessons. This was the birthday present I got for her 18th birthday a year ago and I’m delighted to be going with her.
As I look back on the last three and a half months in Ireland I find myself thanking God for his faithfulness. Its been a season of seeing God being faithful in the small things. I have never gone without over the last period of time and he has always provided enough. I must be honest though that at times I found myself questioning God as regards why he had me working in a book shop where there was hardly any customers or a cafe that on some days had not one person walk in. But a few weeks ago I felt God reveal to me that he has been humbling me and teaching me to serve. I have gotten to the stage where being in a relationship with Jesus is enough for me and that he is my ultimate satisfaction and source of joy. My leader Padraig at Unbound had me read Deuteronomy 8 on finishing up last week. Its all about remembering the Lord your God as it was him who got the Israelites through the wilderness. I feel like I have just been through the wilderness and at times felt like God was a 1000 miles away yet I knew in my heart that he has been carrying me all this time. This chapter also talks about how they are about to enter the promised land and I believe that I’m in a similar position considering that I’m soon to be reunited with the love of my life after five long months apart. I’m also going to be returning to my home church in Perth that I truly love. On top of this I finaly think God has revealed his plan for me for the next period of time. I have been accepted to study a six month course in community services work in TAFE. I’m still praying into this but this is the first thing that I have felt excited about doing on my return to Perth. The course starts in February so I will either work or volunteer somewhere before I start. I’m presently looking into volunteering in microfinance as that is something that I would be keen on getting involved in long term.
Last weekend I got to attend the Christening of my neighbor Sue’s grandson. It was a beautiful ceremony. It has been such a blessing having Sue this summer. We both get together and pray as often as possible which is usually only once a week. My daily life at home has involved a lot of prayer also. I’m first up nearly every morning at 7am during which time I let out and feed the dogs. Then I quietly turn on worship music in the kitchen and empty the dishwasher while everyone is still sleeping. Following this I have half an hour of quiet time of reading my Bible and praying. This is my daily routine and it has been this lifestyle of prayer that has sustained me and built my faith through this season. It has been amazing having the whole family together this summer and I will make the most of it over the next five weeks as it will be our last opportunity to have such a long period of time together. Im so blessed to have such a loving family. Once again thank you to all of you for your financial and prayer support over the last number of months. Shalom
