The town of Hue is rich with history and ancient architecture. The town is sliced in two by the, very elegantly named, Perfume river. It took us about four hours to travel the 175km down to Halong Bay. We were heading for the "Treasure Junk". All the boats that navigate around Halong are called "Junk's". The plane ride from Vientiane to Hanoi was only an hour and fairly pleasant. Vang Vieng! We quietly think to ourselves what this little town would have been like before us tourists invaded it and unfortunately remoulded its personality. It's surrounded by the most breathtaking mountains with a beautiful turquoise river which runs through it separating the main town from "Party Island". So there we where, back on the VIP bus heading down south towards Vientiane, the capital. This time round however the bus ride didn't induce involuntary body movements and ridiculous motion sickness.
