Having failed to up-date you all on my min-adventures for a while, I should probably stary with Poland, where we spent a week split between warsaw and Krakow.
Warsaw and Krakow were amazing and succeeded in blowing away all pre-conceptions of Poland being high rized soviet blocks (ironicaly the same pre-conception we had befosre visiting ethe baltic countries!!) Warsaw has basically been totally re-built as it was before the Germans burnt the city to the ground in WWII!
Krakow, on the other hand was untouched by the wars and therefore, is a chest of colourfull history and old buildings. We had a grat time in both citys however, not without incident! All was going well untill my camera got stolen at a club in Krakow. This seemed to jinx the trip as we woke up the next day as our bus left the station which is 25 minutes from our hostel!! As if it couldn't get worse, due to a language issue, we then missed our overnight train to Prague and had to spend the night sleeping on benches with the homeless (you may wany to know that wooden benches are much more comfortable than their metal counterparts, whilst plastic benches are more comfortable but not as good at retaining heat)!!
Anyhow, we finally made it to Prague yesterday and arrived in our hostel to descover that whilst it is the cheapest place in town, there is a sauna and a swimming pool!! We're hoping our luch has changes as last night Jamie pulled off a classic "rags to riches" by spending the night in the Russian Embasy (not too bad considering where we were the night before!!).
Prague is a fantastic city with so much architectual and cultural history and diversity that it is no suprise it is such a major tourist destination...in fact, I'd better go and take more photos!!
Much love and best wishes from
Christopher
