Well Singapore was really enjoyable but first we had to get there. As usual we had selected the cheapest method of travel possible. This meant a 2 hour train ride from Sevilla to a town called Malaga and then a few hours wait until our flight to London.Once in London we had a 5 hour wait for the connecting flight to Singapore....13 hours after that we landed in Singapore very thankful that we were not going to do the extra 8 hours onto Australia.
Rae's former colleague Karen who is currently living and working in Singapore had kindly offered that we stay at her house while in Singapore which was an offer to good to pass up.We must haven flown to Australia and back via Singapore nearly 10 times but never stopped.
Singapore was a welcome 31 degrees which is not surprising as the weather channel seems to say it is 31 with thunderstorms every single day...very predictable. We had 5 days in Singapore mainly for relaxation but there was still time to get out and about in the humidity and see a few sites.
Among other things we dropped by the Botanic Gardens; Orchid Garden, Little India, China Town, the famous Raffles hotel and of course the many many many mnay shopping malls and areas. We also had a couple of nice nights out enjoying the local food and even taking first prize in a trivia night - pity we can't join our team in enjoying the cruise on the harbour which was the first prize.
On the last day we also spent half a day out at the Changi museum which commemorates the war efforts of the Australian and other troops who fought during the war.We originally intended to do a guided tour of the area but when we turned up it had be cancelled for the day so we just wandered around the museum which was really interesting and well presented, certainly worth a visit for any Aussies stopping in Singapore.
Not much other to report aside from the fact we really enjoyed the stop off, cheap food, and good shopping. But eventually it was time to leave and head back to Australia having hopefully adapted to most of the jetlag
