We arrived I'm koh tao two days after the full moon party... We arrived by ferry again just a short hours journey... As soon as we arrived I knew I would love the island... Everyone had raved about how good it was and I could see why before even stepping onto the island. We got into an open top taxi to our hotel ' coral grand' which was only 20 minutes away... Our hotel looked nice we it was a nicest one to date ... We checked in at reception then chilled for a few hours around the pool before we could check in. Later that afternoon our open water diving course was to start in which we had to sit and watch a video too while filling in the answers. It felt like we were back at school again sitting around a table but I knew it was important to learn all the information properly . There was soo much to take in it was pretty daunting .. Our first night in koh tao we spent on the bean at a restaurant and bar. For dinner I had the best pad Thai noodles for 3 pound which I can't seem to stop eating out here. They taste sooo good :) being on a beach at night having a few changs while soaking in the atmosphere and watching fire shows is my idea of relaxing.. Going back to our tree house wasn't though as we had our first ever cockroach encounter.... Day 2 in koh tao was a 8.30 start.... We spent 10 hours that day in and out of the pool and classroom learning everything about open water diving... It was so much to take in... I felt a little unsure about continuing the course as there was a lot of things that's could go wrong and I didn't feel 100% confident ... I thought I'd sleep on it anyway before my first sea dive the next day... I woke up feeling a little unsure still but thought I'd take the plunge... First half of the day consisted of more classroom work then the second half we would be going to do two dives out at sea. To get to the boat we had to get a tiny boat beforehand and crammed loads of us in... As we prepared for our first dive I felt so sick with nerves... Being down there was amazing. You can't put it into words... U feel like your floating it's the most relaxing experience .. It took a while to get used to it but once u did it was like no other thing I have ever experienced ... We did two dives one 8m and one 12m.. That evening we had dinner at a restaurant on the beach while watching fireworks then got an early night ready for a 5am start .. Waking up to a horrendous storm the next day was not the best start to the morning... The last dive looked like it wasn't going to go ahead but it did... The sea wasn't too rough luckily and we got to do our first dive at 7am... This would be our deepest dive at 18m... Once down there we saw so many fish it was such an amazing sight ... I was so proud of myself for doing it and it was worth every penny.. Once back on solid ground we had to do our last part to the diving course which was a 50 question exam paper... I am now a padi certified open water diver.. What an experience .... Best thing I have ever done... Now onto our next stop .. Phuket and koh phi phi
