Well....... Queenstown was our last stop in New Zealand and probably the best! New Zealand has to be the prettiest country ive ever been too. Edd flew a plane in Kiakoura, Beccy Went on a sailing trip in Abel Tasman and we all jumped out of a plane in Queenstown. Throughout our trip we have met so many different people, seen the most stunning scenery and alot of sheep too!
We started our trip in a small town called Kiakoura with about 20 shops and a few houses, we saw seals and went on a bike ride... it was a very strange place. From there we went to a place called Picton which is the gateway to the south island, its basically where all the boats and planes travel to and from the north island. We went on a long tiresome walk in picton but we got the most beautiful photos... it was gorgeous.
After picton we went to Abel Tasman national park and stayed in a small farm called Old Mc Donalds farm. It had some Lamas, a peecock and some chickens... and they served the most disgusting chips ive tasted, Me and Edd went on a long walk which took the whole day. After Abel Tasman we drove on our bus to Barrytown which was the tiniest place ive ever seen, there was one pub and about 10 houses. We all stayed in the pub and had a huge night. We stayed in a room with two dashing young guys from Sweden called Pontus and Kim... they were so funny. We all dressed up for st Patricks and got sooo drunk. There was stripping on the bar tops and spraying water by the end of the night.. it was like a scene from Cyote Ugly! Me and Pontus and Beccy and Kim got on very well and we were all nursing our hangovers on the bus the next day.
After Barrytown we went to Franz josef and stayed in the rainforest retreat. It had a huge spa hot tub thing and the place was situated right next to a massive glacier, yet again it was a picture perfect place. Us for decided to go on a walk, and bareing in mind kim and pontus are huge musscly guys it was hard work! We walked right up to the glacier and touched it, and we walked for hours through the rain forest. We saw a wild Deer and after trapsing through the mud for hours i for one was absaloutely nakard! They guys on the other hand hadnt even broken the tinest sweat. They train everyday and had only recently left the army......... it was tough!
Anyway, after we left Franz Josef we went to Makarora which had all of nothing in it, we sang kaeoke in the evening and after a few wines fell down a huge ditch which was conveinently placed in the middle of the path in the pitch black. We stayed in cute A frame huts though which was nice.
After that was Queenstown which was the south islands party central. We got a cable car up the moutains which were sooooo steep, it was actually quite scary. And at the top was a luge, where you ride little go cart things down a track. Edd made us go on it 3 times!!! We ate cake adn drank tea and then went down to party!! We all went out and got very merry! Our Bus driver Nemo was out too and he was a giggle and a half. Pontus was dared to run down the corridor in his pants too which we have a very funny video of!
After two nights out on the town we woke up realising we had to jump out of a plane from 12000 feet!! I was so so so so so so so so scared!!! I was seriously crapping myself, i got my nervous rash and everything going up in the plane. We had to wait all day because there was delays but it was well worth the wait! The sun was setting by the time we took off and we all squeezed into the plane like little bugs.... i had to watch Beccy, Edd and another girl jump before i went which was torture. I couldn't look down. I cant explain the feeling waiting on the edge dangling before he threw us off...... and then the first 5 seconds of free falling you would think would make you scream your face off but i couldn't breathe, see or feel anything, i have never felt anything like it..... it was amazing! And then looking around at the beautiful scenery was stunning, we could see mount cook and the 'remarkables' mountains which are some of the only mountains in the world that go north to south. We glided over the largest lake in Queenstown which was reflecting the setting sun. The wind in your ears was so loud but as soon as he pulled the parachute out it went deadly silent and all you can hear is the wind rustling the material. My dive buddy was a very nice young chap called Chris from Wales and he was a bit of a flirt. He took the liberty to squeeze my nose and kiss my cheek!! Shocking! It was just ecstasy watching the ground slowly come into view and all the little sheep running around below us. I have to do it again. It was the best thing ive ever done by a long stretch!!
And thats that! The Sweedish guys left the day before and we are missing them lots now! Tomorrow we go back to Australia to work again, but it will be nice to see all our aussie friends again!
As a summary all i have to say is that New Zealand is the most stunning place in the world, i hope everyone gets the chance to see it one day because ive just loved every minute of it!!
Lots of love Chloe xxxxxxxxx
