Since coming to Europe, I knew I wanted to visit Hungary. It was important for me to come here and experience some of my family's culture (my great grandparents came from Hungary).
Upon my arrival, I learned a lot about the country and culture. Something that really surprised me was the Hungarian alphabet has 44 letters, and the language is considered to be near-impossible to learn for non-native speakers.
We arrived in Budapest Tuesday evening. That night we enjoyed a nice group dinner and headed to a bar for the rest of the night.
Wednesday, I had the chance to sleep in a little bit and then it was time to explore the city. We started a free walking tour, but the guide wasn't very good. Instead, we left the tour and bought a ticket for an open bus tour. It was really nice to sit back and look up at the beautiful city. Budapest has a reputation for being a very beautiful, and it definitely lived up to it! Between the river banks, statues and diverse architecture - there was so much to take in!
After the bus tour, I explored some of the shopping districts and made a few purchases. In the evening, the group of us went to the thermal baths, which is a large, heated pool. It was very relaxing, and really helped me get a good night's sleep.
Now we're off the Crotia! I'm excited to go, but sad the leave Budapest. I'll definitely have to come back some day!
