The Hacienda Los Lingues is a Spanish style adobe estate that dates back to 1545. The 9,000 acres of beautiful grounds comprise of one of the most prestigious horse breeding and agricultural farms in South America. Staying here for the night was stepping back in time.
Meeting again in the dining hall, breakfast consisted of fresh juices, yogurt, delicious hams, eggs and lemon pie!
Exploring the estate, we walked through endless gardens, courtyards, wine cellars and rooms that have entertained guests for 17 generations.
Given the fact that we were surrounded by some of the best horses in the world, it was hard to pass up an opportunity to to check out the countryside on horseback. Our trek to the top of a mountain to view the vineyards, hacienda and acreage below was definitely a highlight and something we won't forget!
Saying our farewells, we continued our journey the rest of the way to Santa Cruz. Lured by a Miel (honey) sign, we happened upon a historic bakery that is now a cozy and recognized restaurant.
It was a good thing we filled our tummies because on the way to our hotel, we stopped at the small winery Laura Hartwig for a tasting of their specialty, Petit Verdot.
TerraViña would be our home base in wine country and we had no complaints as we pulled into this Spanish style hotel surrounded by a vineyard.
Needing a something quick and easy, we went down the street to Etiqueta Negra and were pleasantly surprised with another scrumptious meal. Afterwards, MamaLu schooled us for hours in the dice game "Dick".
