Today was our first day in Bangkok. I can honestly say I've never smelt so many strange and wonderful smells. One second the city can smell like lovely food and the next it can smell like the strangest smell you've ever smelt in your life. Mainly because there is so much going on, so many stalls, food, forms of transport that all the smells become one. The city is pretty easy to get around and lot of places are within walking distance, so it's good not to be spending millions on transport, however we did get a tuk tuk today for 30baht! We met a local banker who told us about getting discounts today as it was the last day of the queens holiday, where you save money on commission and service charge which is usually very high for tourists. We booked our next 46 days round Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam with all hostels, transport, flight, Vietnam visa and all breakfasts at hostel included with an activity in chiang Mai. The activity is a jungle treck for three days in which we will live with local tribes, treck through the jungle, white water raft and ride elephants! All this was pretty cheap. So all in all it was a successful first day in Bangkok! :)
