The greyhound took us from surfers paradise to Byron Bay, arriving there around 11am! We found a hostel called 'Arts Factory' that was full of hippies but was quite a cool place. We went for a look around the town and found a similar sort of vibe to the hostel that everyone was so friendly and chilled out and had the typical 'hippie' look to them. The town was small, just a beach and a parade of shops and restaurants and one supermarket. But the weather was definitely on our side and it was baking! We booked a day trip to nimbin for the following day so went to bed ready for that. The bus picked us up and it was this old fashioned battered old bus blaring with old school tunes and weird music, the journey took about 2 hours and then we arrived. Nimbin is a tiny village consisting of literally a town hall, one pub, and few shops, a little museum and some cafes! It was a hilarious place, full of stoners and hippie walking around so 'mellowed' out! It was interesting to see and hilarious to watch all these people. One man approaching us to say he's giving massages at the top of the street if we wanted one and other people just walking around in a world of their own. The museum was full of articles of the citizens of Nimbin trying to legalise cannabis and posters saying how it's only a plant so who are the government to ban this as they don't ban other plants. You'd carry on walking and they'd be petitions you could sign to help them legalise it. We'd had enough of this so decided to lay in the sun with a corona for the last half an hour we were there before getting the bus back.
