So here we are in the beautiful resort of Krabi. We have done so much since I last posted an entry so this might be a pretty long one!!!
We have now started our tour and the people are all really great (a mix of Brits, Aussies and one American).
The final day we spent in Bangkok we visited Wat Pho which has the largest reclining buddha in the World and it is absolutely breath taking!!!
That evening we properly started of the tour by taking the night train from Bangkok down to Surrit Thani. The train was an experience and a half with pretty awful food but the seats fold down to make beds and a top bunk is pulled from the ceiling...it's very clever but not too comfortable on a 12 hour journey which ends up taking just over 14 hours!!!! From the train station we then had a 2 hour drive to Khao Sok on a Songthaew (basically a pick up truck with two rows of benches at the back and all our bags just piled ontop of the roof...a very interesting experience. Actually being in a Thai car/van is an experience in itself as all the drivers seem to think they are Formula 1 racing drivers!!!!
Khoa Sok is one of Thailand's national parks and it has the most fantastic scenery. We stayed in a place called Morning Mist and we all have little bamboo huts which slept two people. It was such a lovely place, especially after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.
When we arrived we all went Tubing which basically means floating down a river on a rather large inflated inner tube. It was such great fun and we got to see some lovely butterflies and some fantasti views, aswell as having some fun splashing each other!!!
The next day we had an early morning and went ELEPHANT TREKKING!!!!!!! It was the most amazing experience. Clare and myself shared an elephant which we named Sid, later to find out that it was actually a girl!!!! We both sat on a seat which was placed in the middle of the elephant's back and walked through some of the most fantastic jungle views and saw lots of beautiful dragonflies. I then got to sit on the elephant's head on the way back to the camp and it was AMAZING!!!! They are so graceful for such big animals and they hold you in with their ears so that you don't fall off. It must be one fo the best experiences of my life and I've taken lots of pictures so that you can see (although I'm having trouble uploading them at the moment but hopefully they will be on as soon as poss!!!!)
We then spent another night in Khao Sok and had a BBQ aty the local reggae bar...quite random but very tasty!!!!!!
The next day we left for Krabi which has one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Today we have been on a Speed boat trip around lots of the little islands which lay just off the coast from Krabi. The boat stopped a few times for us to jump off and have a snorkel and there are some amazing fish around...I kept spotting ones like off Finding Nemo. We also got dropped off on a few beaches which had the purest white sand and lovely clear blue warm water. I am quite sunburnt but that's just what happens to me when I see the sun. which is usually very rarely!!!!!
Well I think I have probably written enough here to keep you reading for a while so I'm going to love you and leave you as we're all going out for dinner again tonight. I'm so glad that we have done an organised trip for this bit as the people are all fantastic and are just making the experience even more fantastic.
Hope all is well at home and drop me an email if you have time as I had no emails in the last 5 days and I feel quite unloved (just thought I would use the guilt trip!!!!).
Miss you all lots.xxxxxxxxxxx
