Cestria Galaxy U16 v Mersey
Today the girls travelled down to Manchester to play our old friends Mersey Girls who had strengthened with a few ex CoE girls so we were expecting a tough test.
The weather was gut-bustingly hot for the girls on a good size 3G pitch. The girls kicked off and soon imposed their passing game on their opponents who to be fair, were chasing shadows. Cestria rattled in 5 exceptional goals before half time with strikes from Beth Jennings, doing a sterling job on the right wing, Abbey Housecroft with 2 poachers goals, Beth Hepple with the 4th after good work from Zoe Ness and Brooke Smith. Rosie Mcdonnell scored a magnificent individual effort for the 5th slaloming around defenders like Franz Klammer in his heyday.

The 2nd half kicked off and the girls were playing brilliant, keeping possession for minutes at a time going sideways, backwards then forward probing for an opening which eventually came through Lauren Jordinson who was playing like Alan Hansen at the back with Lauren Cross as her Mark Lawrenson. She strode the the middle leaving Mersey players in her wake and slotted past the makeshift goalkeeper.
Goals flowed from Beth Hepple (magnificent strike), Rosie McDonnell, Brooke Smith, Megan Beel (who scored the hardest chance she had all day with a great strike) and Lauren Jordinson rounding it off with the 11th goal.
Great workout for Gothia World Youth Cup next week..
