Today and tomorrow the Cestria Galaxy u16 girls take part in the SCI tournament in Southport. A welcome chance for the girls to get away and have some fun before the big one in the summer ( Gothia World Youth cup ).
The tournament was supposed to have half a dozen teams participating but that's now down to 3. One team from Eire and Burscough u17's who've filled in at the last minute after a team from just down the road decided to pull out at the last minute for whatever reason. Maybe they didn't fancy it all of a sudden.....
The girls played Burscough u17 first up who are no mugs. Currently 2nd in their league losing only 2 games so far this season. We expected a tough game and that's what we got.
Zoe Ness opened the scoring with Krissy getting the 2nd after an acrobatic finish from Rosie Young's cross.
HT Cestria 2:0 Burscough
The 2nd half was a stop start affair with plenty of girls going down with knocks, with us even playing with 9 at one point. Burscough grabbed a good goal back before we added another 3 through Krissy, Rosie and Zoe.
Well played to Burscough who were very competitive.
Next up we had Gounthain from Eire who were up for a game. Cestria soon got into their stride and raced to a 4-0 lead at HT through Beth, a Briggsy belter and 2 goals from Krissy including a long range header!
HT Cestria 4:0 Gounthain
The 2nd half followed the theme of the first with another 5 goals rattled in against, it has to be said, the spirited Irish through Megan Johnson, Lauren Jordinson and a hattrick from Woody!!
FT Cestria 9:0 Gounthain
FT Cestria 5:1 Burscough
2nd two games today finished 3-0 and 7:0 meaning they won the trophy.
