Hey all!!
Northern Laos has been great, with plenty of opportunity for admiring the views on the various boats, buses, songthews and bikes we've taken on our way to the border with Vietnam! On the songthews we've learn about the brestfeeding techniques of tribal people (one for George), how to fit 20 chickens into a bag, what happens when someone spits out of the window and has a bad aim, and just how travel sick children can get!
I used to think sticky rice was delicious and had loads of flavour, but after eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner on occasions I've changed mind! However, some culinary highlights include; Mekong Riverweed (dried), freshwater snails and barbecue dog (yes, we saw the paws!!). The later one we probably ate, but not knowingly!!
All this was a bit much for Miss Bennett and she took up drinking the local spirit Lao Lao at 10.30am. You'll be pleased to know her sight has since been restored! Lao Lao is a Meths style home brew of rice/sweet potato, sold in old beer bottles!
There's more, but you're probably bored now.
love to all,
C x
