Hi Everyone!
Well, I've finally finished Australia! :)
Since I last blogged, I've been to Cairns where it rained most of the time but I did get a nice day in the Daintree Rainforest where I had a great time - if you get a chance, check out the pictures.
I then spent 2 days/nights at Ayers Rock and Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park. The heat was fierce, 44 degrees at one point which made it hard to do anything in the middle of the day! :)
I got up for sunrise at Kata Tjuta and then walked The Valley of the Winds walk, which is 8k and was very windy, surprisingly enough! :) The walk was great, quite tough and a lot of uphill but as you can see from the pictures, the views were worth it. I have to admit, I was glad to be doing it at 6.30am as it just got hotter and hotter out there. They actually close the walk at 11am if the temperature rises over 36 degrees, which it did the entire time I was there :)
I also went to an astronomy presentation while I was there with a local astronomer which was amazing. Without all the light polution we have, the view was just beautiful and I've never seen so many stars! It was also strange looking at the Southern Sky and not recognising anything! As the night wore on though the Northern Sky rose and I was able to see something familiar :) We also looked at Jupiter, Andromeda and Orion's nebular through some high spec telescopes which was pretty spectacular.
I'm back in Sydney now as I fly to Christchurch tomorrow for the last leg of my journey. I'm meeting Jo in the departure lounge as I'm boarding her London flight. It's going to be great to have some company and go on a road trip!
Hope you enjoy the pictures and I'll be sure to upload some more soon. Thanks for all the emails, messages, Facebook wall writings - I really appreciate it.
Hope you're all looking after yourselves and I'll see you all soon!
Lots of Love
Ceara
