So an update on our last couple on days on Phi Phi. On Wednesday we were meant to be going for a boat trip but we weren't able to book in time so we decided to hire a canoe and paddle round to Monke bay. It only took us about 15 minutes to paddle, which wasn't too bad. Once we arrived we were the only ones on the beach it was truely amazing. We saw the Monkeys. Jo almost got attacked by one. At this point I then headed for the canoe and my paddle for protection! We took a few photos and then headed back to the main beach. It only cost us 200THB to rent the canoe for 1 hour. (bargain!) After we got back we then headed to Long Beach in a thail long boat. Jo had been wanting to go in one all holiday! It was great fun. When we arrived at Long Beach it was amazing. Gorgeous sand and crystal clear water! Perfect. We settled down and then Jo found we could rent some snorkels so we headed out to see some fish! You didn't need to have a snorkel to see the zebra fish though! but the colours were great and was very good visability. After we had a swim and a snooze we then grabbed some lunch. Jo had pasta and I had pizza. My pizza turned up an hour after Jo's and was the size of a saucer! very funny but I wasn't very hungry so not a problem. We had to head back at about 4:30 to ensure we could leave our hotel at 5 in time to get up to the viewpoint for sunset (Vernon's recommendation). It was such hard work in the heat some of the steps were very steep. We were dripping by the time we got to the top but it was all worth it in the end as the view was incredible. We spent a couple of hours watching the sunset and then headed back down. Went out for dinner and watched the fire show. Today we have been on a boat trip and what a disapointment. The day started off sunny and beautiful and when we were approaching Maya Bay (Where the Beach was filmed) it was very cloudy. It didn't stop me and Jo going for a canoe over to the beach from our boat. we got to the shore and took a few photos. Our trip back to the boat was interesting. We ended up capsizing about 6 times. In the end we gave up and attempted to swim back to the boat (this was a fare distance) eventaully the boat staff realised we were in trouble and sent someone out to get us. He helped Jo into the canoe and then because we thought that it would capsize again I decided to swim although way back although I did swallow about a gallon of sea water and almost drowned in the process but had jo by my side in her canoe so was ok! Not a mention from any of the staff on the boat on our return though. The rest of the day was a disaster. It rained, rained and rained even more. We went around the island but couldn't see much and when we were meant to stop we didn't because it was too dangerous. We got around the north of the island to monkey bay where people could snorkel again as the sea was a bit calmer but in the end I decided to stay dry inside as it was still raining! We got back to the pier at 3:45. We were due back at 7pm after the sunset but obviously there was no sunset! Oh well. Was a good day of fun. Enjoyed a nice chocolate Thai pancake on the walk back to our hotel!
