So while I have been having a nap Jo's have provided a very detailed blog of the recent couple of days. So thought I would just post this as well. Just in case some people do not have additional access to their blog. I am also in the process of downloading a number of photos using a very slow internet connection so depending on my patience depends on the number. Enjoy both and will update after our trip to china town this evening. x x x
JO's Blog:
Well hello again from the girl who is really on the move! So i think i updated you all yesterday on what we got up to in singapore and was just off to the night zoo... ah that was so cool, we had so much fun! starting off with caz being dragged up on stage during a 'traditional dance and fire show'... was so funny, she had to blow a dart at a baloon held between one of the male dancers' legs... and got a dart blown back at her!!! then we went to a creatures of the night show which was cute, saw a couple of unusual animals i've never seen before as well as a few trained owls, otters and racoons which were cute - you know me and animals, i was happy, even when they bought out possibly the biggest snake i have EVER seen! but the highlight was the safari ride - honestly i couldnt get over the fact that there were no fences and no sides/windows/barriers to the trams(!!!)separating us from the zebras, giraffes, antelope, buffalow, hyenas, rhino, lions and tigers!!!!!!! you literally were driving along a path and the only thing that was in the was was a small natural barrier - maybe a bush or just a few logs... it was incredible! the only animals which were in an enclosure were the elephants - but that was just one electric wire, as we went past the big bull ele, the guid said 'right so really important to be quiet here as he has been known to throw stuff at the tram if he gets distressed from the noise...' oh i felt safe!! then there were standart cuties like different types of deer who were just wandering around right up close to the trams, two tapiers which were really amazing up so close enough to touch, and some giant rat things, cant remember what they were called though, but they had babies!soooooo adorable! we just had enough time to go on a leopard trail which we were glad to see we were separated by glass although the enclosure sizes were a bit dissappointing. i think the strangest thing was actually ebing there in the dark - was a very weird feeling walking along paths lit by torch flame but so so cool, we loved it!
so then when we got back to the hostel it was straight to the bus terminal to get an overnight bus to KL...got a 'standard' bus ticket, so were expecting a rough ride, how wrong we were!!! the seats were HUGE and almost lay out flat, was like luxury travel! so i settled happily and went to sleep, only being woken up for passport control, customs and then when we arrived at 5am, greeted by many many eager taxi men. taxi drive was fine, but when we arrived at the hostel all the gates were locked and we had to ask people working in a cafe next door to ring them to let us in... theeeeen the lady didnt want to let us just crash in the hostel and tried to get rid of us until 8am, which we weren't happy about, so we managed to persuade her to just let us sit in the front garden thing, which we were padlocked into with the hostel...just a couple of hours to try and snooze a little if we could. being the resourceful person that i am, i put three chairs together to make somewhere i could lay down on...mainly to get away from the rat that we kept seeing though lol aaaah what a start to KL! we've ended up having a great day though, basically been walking around again all day like yesterday, we went up to the skybridge on the two towers which was pretty cool, and went to the park for a while. also managed to almost walk sraight into the malasya prime minister as he was leaving the KLCC - i saw the red carpet just before stepping onto it and as we were bombarded with sercurity men LOL. obviously excited by clearly walking into someone important, we chatted to the security men who explained it was the pm, and the KING was just about to come out - how exciting!!!so we hung out for a while, but his highness took too long and we had to go for our skybridge walk.
so we're now back in the hostel, which is actually lovely, homely and friendly, are going to have a nap as we are a little tired from the last couple of day's excursions, and will be ready to hit china town tonight. then tomorrow its all go again as we are flying to koh samui and straight on a ferry over to koh phangan - we are sooooooo excited to get on the beach!!!!!xxx
