Bula again folks. I just wanted to add a little more about my time in Fiji. It was in fact on my way back to the airport this afternoon that a saw some of the other side to Fiji paradise image. What is behind the paradise postcard picture that perhaps we, myself included, may only see of this country.
Do while I was looking at beautiful fish in tropical paradise, within metres of one hostel I stayed in was the the metal shack where a family lived. I think I forgot that Fiji is a third world country and that many live in poverty. On my short 20minute drive to the airport I also saw a primary school and high school painted in bright colours. Next I saw groups of young adults, kids all playing around a local sports field.
One important thing I've learnt about Fiji and its people is how friendly and genuinely caring they are. At every resort and hostel all the staff wanted to know my name. And I did my best to learn theirs :). So although it is sad to see these two sides to Fijian life, I have come aware feeling welcomed and welcome back in the future.
