Day 18 - Arriving in Bangalore we got to Royal Regency Lodge, after only one hour and 5 rooms we were in a lovely restaurant eating amazing masala dosa and a top cheese sandwich with sweet Lassis (very yoghurty!). Our first stop was Bengaluru Palace which greatly resembled Windsor Castle and contained everything from elephant heads to old fashioned fridges. Day 16 - We started the day off with banana and coconut pancakes washed down with chocolate milkshakes. After breakfast we enjoyed our first Indian bus journey through the countryside to Margao. We walked through the heat to the brightly coloured Damodar Temple (we think!) continuing past crumbling Portugese homes in Largo de Igraja up to the Church of the Holy Spirit which was very sparkly and made the church in Mumbai look rather boring. Day 12 - We easily found Hotel Manama and after Room 318 cockroaches, Room 315 no Western bathroom, Room 216 being sprayed for cockroaches, we settled down in the somewhat damp Room 115. As it was Independance Day Mumabi was deserted. After checking out the closed Monetary Msueum we had a massive noodle based lunch. Day 11 - A fateful / fatal day... our driver from the night before planned to take us to Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and City Palace before visiting his Guru friend. All was going swimmingly as we paid our fee for the Hawa Mahal and went round each of its 6 floors. We admired its multi-colorured glass windows and high arches. Day 8 - At 4.30 we got up and headed through a dark Jaipur to find our train. Luckily clearly labelled platforms showed us where to go and we found ourselves next to some nice people who worked in Swindon. The journey was nice and cool in AC and with men walking up and down with water, chai and breakfast it made for an enjoyable few hours.
