We arrived in Copenhagen after a quick four and half hours on the speed train, it become a little weird when the train went on to a ferry to cross the river. The train was parked underneath with the cars and trucks, we then got told to get off the train and come back on 45mins so we had time to sit on the deck and watch the crossing. It was strange but a good story to tell, we were on the train then next thing on a boat WTF. Heheh. So we arrived checked in to our lovely 5star hostel on the water in our 6 bed dorm, every thing is very expensive in Copenhagen and that's all we could allow in our budget. It is a nice hostel we are on the 13 th floor Overlooking the river, we were excited to have a kitchen and laundry as the laundrys have been hard to come by lately. So we spent the afternoon doing laundry strolled around town cooked a nice dinner with pork, veges and cous cous delicious.
Harbour festival is on at the moment so lots of people are out and about and on the banks of the river cooking on miniature bbqs and drinking. There are a lot of new funky designed building on the banks of the river and then between some are old building its quite beautiful. The bridge in front of our room is one that opens up when big boats come through, I had never seen one open before pretty cool. The other great thing is every one rides there bikes every where there is big bikelanes with heaps of people in them and in front of shops and cares there is bikes every where.
We did a walking tour today it was 2.5 hours and probably not the best one we have done, but we got to see lots of sites and hear the history. We even got to see Prince Fredrick and Princess Mary's house and the flag was up so they were home. :) After the tour we went and found the little mermaid statue, as the author of that book was Hans Christian Anderson and he was from Copenhagen so there is a popular little mermaid statue . The statue was on the waterfront so we thought we might have fish and chips so we went in and turned around quite quickly when we saw the price $45 for 2 pieces of fish and chips. Every thing here is so expensive lucky we have a kitchen to cook dinner. We ended up finding some cheaper lunch and had a nice afternoon around the city then sat by the river and had a few drinks.
