Well another amazing week seeing the sights of Malaysia! We spent another beautiful day in Krabi, relaxing on a nearby Island beach - Railey Island. Lots of swimming, sunbathing and eating ice cream! Had beautiful weather all day, except when it came to catching the boat back, the weather turned for the worst. So yes we got caught in a storm in the oldest fishermans boat in the world, I actually thought we would have to swim for it. So traumatic - all 5 of us scrambled for the lifejackets and tried to calculate what important things we had in our bags! May sound dramatic but at the time when the waves we're going over the top of the boat it was a serious consideration! And thanks mum for making me have swimming lessons!
So after that traumatic journey we drunk lots of red wine and yet again i resolved never ever to go on another boat! Left for Malaysia the next day - which is the most amazing country. After a 10 hr journey across the border, we arrived in Penang - which is a fab place. It is one of the most fantastically culturally diverse places in the world, so many cultures - Malay, Indian, Chinese and so many different people. Had a lovely indian meal - even ate of banana leaves with our hands!
Spent a day in Penang sightseeing - saw the biggest Buddha Temple in Asia, an Old British Fort, the seafront, and a 17th Century House. Was a lovely place and was sad to leave the next morning! Headed to the Cameron Highlands next - which was basically Malaysias countryside. Lots of Tea and Strawberry Plantations - yum yum! Spent the next morning visiting a Rose Garden, Butterfly Farm, Strawberry Farm and Tea Plantations. I drunk lots of tea and ate scones and strawberries - how english! Was a great place to see.
Then headed onto KL - which was one of the best places ive ever been - cant wait to go back one day! Had a lush meal in Chinatown - lots of yummy duck and ended up in a Regaae/Karoke Bar till the wee hours. Lots of group fun and a good night out! Following day the 4 of us - Anna, Lucy, Jim and I headed out for a day of sightseeing. Went to Batu Caves - which house a Hindu Temple. Lots of evil monkeys running around and was pretty spectacular. Then headed to Medaka Square, followed by a visit to the awesome National Historical Museum. Also visited the Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens and then Medera Towers. Sadly due to the haze over all of Asia at the mo (due to Indonesian forest fires) we couldnt see much from the top!
All in all a jam packed day sightseeing. The evening was spent with Uma, a friend of Anna's friend. He took us out for an amaaazing Italian meal - lots of red wine and fab food. I dont the 4 of us had eaten that good our whole trip! He was just one example of the genoristy and kind nature of the Malay people.
The next day we headed down to Melaka - an old port town. Stayed in a hotel - only to be described as a cambodian prison - well in fact it actually used to be a prison! It was hideous. Luckily we only stayed one night - the afternoon was spent on local trishaws seeing the town. We then headed down to Singapore - which is were I am now. Not sure on our plans, we are here until next weekend, so we might stick around and chill out or head over to and Indonesian Island. So far Singapore is good but will write more when ive seen more than Topshop! (The shopping is divine!)
The group tour finished this morning, so from now on its all our own itneraries (no more boats, prisons or spiders!)
Anyways send me lots of emails, i want gossip!
