Learning spanish in Panama
My first stop in Panama was at the little group of islands called Bocas del Toro. Like in Costa Rica it was the raining season, so it rained heavily for one whole day and a few hours the rest of the days.
Eventhough the rain decreases your opportunities of what to do, Bocas del Toro was a nice place. I stayed on the island Isla Colon at a spanish school that also have a few private rooms to stay in. The place is called Spanish By The Sea and it's really a nice spot to stay. Nice and functional kitchen, good location, clean rooms and even a shower with hot water. :-) You don't see and need that often around here.
The price is 10 dollars per person for a room, so thats fair too, and then you can of course take spanish lessons on Spanish By The Sea, which I did.
I might have been lucky to get a good teacher, Andrés, but I definetely had some effective lessons, and I will really recommend this place if you wanna learn spanish. The price for ten hours was around 90 dollars and I learned a lot, so I think it's a fair price.
Of other things I did in Boca del Toros was a nice boat tour. We went to Dolphin Bay, which is kind of a must-see. Lots of doplhins are swimming and playing around in the bay, and it's amazing to see. Don't expect the dolphins to jump much around, though, cause the water is pretty easy there, but they will come up from the surface once in a while.
Bocas del Toro has a few good snorkling spots too. I tried snorkling in Mexico and Costa Rica, and compared to these places Panama didn't seem to be extremely rich on different fish. But there are plenty! And in spite of that the snorkling was indeed amazing because of the beatuiful, beautiful corals in Panama. There are so many different forms and colors, and it's absolutely a must-see if you go to Bocas del Toro, too.
