So today began with me getting up at 5:45am and checking out the resort gym which I was pretty impressed with and was excited to be able to spend 40 minutes using all of the cardio equipment and another 40 lifting some weights, all while Troy was still curled up in bed like sleeping beauty... We then headed down to the restaurant where there was a massive buffet breakfast, too much food to pick from so Troy and I decided to sample a little of most things. At 8:30am we were greeted by our tour guide for the day; a young lady Troy's age called Lisa (not really sure if this is her given name or just and easy name for us Aussies to call her). She also had a driver who we referred to as master as 1) he is an elder and 2) we could not pronounce his name either... Troy and I are slowly wishing we had learnt a little of the Chinese language before arriving here in china. Our first stop today was at the "Xi'an city wall", which is a massive wall that stretches around the whole of inner xi'an city. It was very interesting and had some great views. 2nd stop for the day was at the factory where they make the moulds for the newly made terracotta warriors. We then headed to a restaurant for lunch where Troy and I were sat down at a table and were not given a menu or anything to look at so were a little worried as to what we were going to be served. All was good though as we enjoyed all of the food that was served up, however there was a lot of it. I am beginning to be a lot more adventurous when it comes to sampling the Chinese food - Troy is happy with this as he will eat most things.... After our belly's were bulging we headed off to the terracotta warriors. By the time we had gotten out of the car it was surely into the minus temperature and was snowing so we were freezing (me getting super cranky and I was beyond numb and Troy just laughing at me). There were 4 massive big I guess you could say "shed's", the largest being 65 metres wide by 230 metres long, so HUGE! The first was full of the terracotta warriors (in battle formation, apparently there are about 8000 in total), the second with the warriors which was a lot smaller as this was classed as the warriors head quarters, the third had a mixture of the warriors, their weapons, the horses and their carts and finally the 4th which had bronze horse and carts. All very interesting and we were pretty blown away by it all. Did I mention it was bloody freeeezing.... Last stop for the day was the wild goose pagoda, which was a huge temple built over 1300 years ago. It was another great temple to check out however we experienced a lot of the local Chinese people trying to sell us their knick knacks... Finally we arrived back to our hotel after being stuck in hours of the crazy hustle and bustle on the roads here. Another early get up tomorrow when we will head to the airport to fly to Beijing.
