So we have moved on a bit since our last updates ... we spent one night in Nha Trang and the last morning was spent on the beach. Being beach babes and both growing up in tropical climates we naturally burnt after 15 minutes in the Vietnam heat. Rik being the beach adonis that he is, thought he would be fine with the factor 15 lotion but left the beach looking like he had just had an acid peel on his back.
We got driven by car down to Dalat that afternoon and the journey was quite spectacular through the mountains. We drove up to over 1500m and into the clouds.
We arrived in Dalat early evening and checked in a swanky 4 star hotel that has just opened there right on the lake, then headed out for dinner. We shared a table in a restaurant on the lake with the moth family and all their extended family and enjoyed some Dalat wine with midgies floating in the bottle.
So - we need to clear up a misunderstanding which occurred at breakfast the following morning.... we didn't say that we worked for lonely planet but that was the understanding of the General Director and the staff at the hotel. We were then introduced to the hotel manager and a before we knew it a breakfast meeting had been arranged for the following morning so we could all sit down and discuss the finer details of what we would put in our book regarding the hotel. A definite case of lost in translation. Not wanting to embaress anyone we thought we would keep quiet and accept our free upgrade graciously. However the following morning we intentionally arrived 2 hours early for the "breakfast meeting" and left town in a taxi before the mayor arrived to meet us!!
To be continued....
